Random NFL Team Picker

All 32 teams, one spin. For fantasy drafts, Madden matchups and picking a side you have no business picking.

All 32 teams, one spin

Every NFL franchise on the wheel with an equal chance of each. Nobody gets the Chiefs because they asked nicely, and nobody gets stuck with a rebuild because the room decided they should.

That impartiality is the whole job. Assigning teams by discussion takes ten minutes and leaves someone unhappy; assigning them by a spin everyone watched takes thirty seconds and leaves nobody to blame.

Madden and Franchise mode

The most common use is picking a team you would never choose. Most players run the same three franchises for years, and a random assignment is the standard way out of that - a rebuild you did not pick is a different game from one you did.

For a group franchise league, spinning with Remove on deals all 32 teams out without repeats. Everyone watched the draw, so nobody spends the season arguing that the schedule was rigged before it started.

Wheels worth building

  • Division only. Just the AFC North, or the NFC West, for a rivalry series where every game is a divisional matchup.
  • Conference split. Sixteen teams instead of thirty-two, which is a more readable wheel and a faster draw.
  • Rebuild difficulty. Weight the teams so a hard rebuild comes up more often - a visible handicap rather than an unspoken one.

Fantasy draft order

Draft position decides more of a fantasy season than most managers admit, which is why the order has to be beyond question. Put the managers' names on the wheel, turn Remove on, and spin until it is empty - that is your draft order, generated in front of everybody.

Screen-record it if the league is competitive or has money in it. A recording answers the accusation that the commissioner arranged the order, in a way that simply announcing the result never does.

Settling the small stuff

Which team you support for one Sunday when your own is on a bye. Who picks the game on at the bar. Which side you take in a pickup game of two-hand touch when nobody wants to be the Jets.

None of these matter, and that is precisely what makes a wheel the right tool. Chance is a good answer to a question where being wrong costs nothing.

Questions

NFL Team Wheel FAQ

Does the wheel have all 32 NFL teams?

Yes, all 32 with an equal chance of each. The list uses team names rather than cities, and you can edit it to whatever form your group prefers.

How do I assign teams to a whole group without repeats?

Turn on Remove mode and spin once per person. Each team comes off the wheel after it is drawn, so a full league is dealt out in as many spins as you have managers.

Can I use it for fantasy draft order?

Yes - put the managers' names on the wheel instead of the teams, turn on Remove, and spin until it is empty. Screen-record it if the league is competitive.

Can I limit it to one division or conference?

Yes. Paste just those teams and the wheel rebuilds. Sixteen conference teams make a far more readable wheel than all thirty-two.

Can I make a rebuild more likely?

Yes, using weights. Giving the harder rebuilds more of the wheel makes the handicap visible on the rim rather than a private arrangement.
